A Precinct Delegate (PD) is an elected office for the most direct local representative of the Democratic Party. Precinct Delegates work within their neighborhood to engage and inform voters, as well as get out the vote for Democratic candidates. The role of a PD is truly one of the most important - and one of the most flexible - of any elected party office.
Active and informed PDs are the foundation of Democratic electoral efforts and help win elections for the Democratic Party. PDs engage with Democratic voters in their precinct and many also choose to engage with Independent and persuadable Republican voters.
PDs are placed on the ballot and elected in the August primary in even-numbered years. Those wishing to fill the roll of a PD prior to that primary can be Precinct Volunteers (PVs) and can have access to all the tools and trainings available to PDs.
